North London Cinemas and Online Ticket Sales
I can never find the movie listings when we actually do go out to see a film:
Everyman–plush seats and small theaters. They just renovated the Haverstock Hill Cinema near the Belsize Park Tube. There is also one up in Hampstead.
Vue– multi-plexer at the O2 Center on Finchley Road.
Odeon — multi-plexer at Swiss Cottage
Estimated costs to see a movie = babysitter 4hours * £7/hour = £28 + £12×2 = £24 == £52 and maybe you want to eat after = £20-30 x 2 = £40 — £60. So you are looking at £100 easy, so bring your own popcorn! Seriously, most movies are not so great, so make sure you are picking something you will enjoy! And if you take a taxi–well it is sorta like paying the taxi and the babysitter at the same time! But add more even…£10-£15 each way, yikes! So now wonder we usually sit around and watch a DVD.
Better yet though, for a little bit more you can see a theater or show, so maybe it is better to plan ahead and do something more interesting for about the same cash burn. Check what’s on at Sadlers Wells or the Roundhouse or slide into Soho to Ronnie Scotts. You can also roll the dice at the Hampstead Theatre (near Swiss Cottage Tube) but really best to check reviews before buying anything.
